The bridge at Maturara is a technical masterpiece. With a length of more than 3.5 kilometres it was a longt time the longest bridge of the world. And it still the longest of the few bridges crossing the Zambezi.

We enjoy the small roads along the coast of Mozambique. Often - like here at Zalala, close to Quelimane - they lead through endless forests of Cocopalm-trees. Each palm carries lots of coconuts, but we prefer to buy these nuts on the streets as every palm belongs to one of the farmers of the area.

After three month crossing the African continent we reach the sea again, this time the Indian Ocean. At the coast of Mozambique many people earn their living by fishing. We watch the fishermen at their work in the warm waters.

Although the name seldom is seen on the packing, Malawi is one of the biggest exporters of tea. The wide tea estates colour the hilly region in the South-East of the country in a for us nearly unknown green.

Before leaving Malawi we climb the Mount Mulanje at the border to Mozambique. Two days heavy hiking cost a lot of power, but the stunning views are definitely worth it!
