The Lighthouse of Wadjemup, in the centre of the island Rottnest is visible for 60 km. It was built in 1895, to make an end to a series of wrecked ships close to the island.

The Quokkas are pocket-sized Kangaroos. They are the reason for the islands name: The first Dutch, who discovered the island thought it were rats and called it therefore "Rott-nest" (rats nest).

The joy of camping!
While we have to wait for our car, we are restricted to our guest-room. And in spite of our Christmas-tree, we are not in the mood for Christmas - the weather is not as we are used to: 6am - 25°C, 7am - 35°C, 8am - we are out of the tent!
