The symbol of Tasmania: The Tasmanian Devil is very common, but hard to see. Usually it comes out of its holes only deep in the night. It is the largest (living) marsupial carnivore, feeding mainly on carcasses as it's too clumsy to catch a lot of prey.

One of the historic important sites in Tasmania: Port Arthur is a convict village, built from 1830 on by convicts served sentences there. Until 1877 about 12.500 convicts were kept on this peninsula.
