06/15/2003: At Undara we have the possibility to visit Lava Tubes.
Some 190,000 years ago this volcano erupted slowly, flooding the surroundings with its 1,200°C hot lava. In depressions, where the hot lava gathered, the topmost layer of lava cooled down and solidified while the lava beneath kept flowing at a speed of about 15 km/h.
We look through these amazing tunnels with 15 metres in diameter into the surrounding rainforest!
