07/08/2003: The Kakadu National Park is home to countless waterbirds, which gather at the end of the dry season at the remaining billabongs.

07/08/2003: In Nourlangie is probably the most famous collection of rock paintings of Kakadu National Park. In this painting some of the most important creation beings are painted: the "Lightning Man" Namarrgon (top right with a band connecting head, arms and legs); his wife Barrginj (the small white one in the middle left); Namandjolg (the big one above); and people on their way to a ceremony.

07/08/2003: Also to be found in Nourlangie: figures showing probably good spirits. These rock paintings are in such an good condition because they have been repainted in 1962. That can only be done by a man belonging to this area, having very detailed knowledge about the tradition and history of the tribe and its connection to the land.
