The Grand Palace was built in 1867 during the reign of King Rama IV because of the 100th anniversary of the Chakri-Dynasty. The whole Palace (including the temple) covers an area of 219 hectares!

The reclining Buddha at Wat Poh isn't just 45 metres long but also completely covered in gold. Except for the skin under his feet - they are designed with pearl-inlays.

At the floating market in Damnoen Saduak we do not find only souvenirs but also many fine Thai foods - cooked freshly in the boats.

Hundreds of little baskets of flowers are floated during the festival of Loy Krathong on any body of water. This shall mark the end of the rainy season. Decorated with burning candles the small baskets make their own procession of light along the slow moving river ...

Once again we visit one of the many caves of Thailand - and once again we find a temple in it. But in Rap Ro not every cave is built into a temple. This "minor cave" shows its natural state - with astonishing colours at its stalactites.
